2002 at South Bend: Notre Dame 23, Michigan 21 In this heartbreaking defeat, Notre Dame won on a phantom touchdown. The ball was fumbled on the 1-yard line but was called a touchdown. 2004 at South Bend: Notre Dame 28, Michigan 20 Garrett Rivas booted four field goals for U-M, but Notre Dame rebounded from a 9-0 halftime deficit to take a 28-20 win in South Bend. Notre Dame scored 28 second half points, capitalizing on three Michigan turnovers and a blocked punt.
